Flying the flag for our award winning gardens!
This week, a record number of parks and green spaces collected a Green Flag Award and two of Bankside Open Spaces Trust’s gardens were among them. The parks are among a record-breaking 1,883 UK parks and green spaces that have this week received a prestigious Green Flag Award – the mark of a quality park or green space.
This international award, now into its third decade, is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.
Our Parks Coordinator Mary O’Connell, who looks after Red Cross Garden, said, “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award again for Red Cross Garden. This award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining our parks to such a high standard.”
While, Joe Mayhook (BOST Parks Operations Officer- responsible for Waterloo Millennium Green) added, “We’re so pleased Waterloo Millennium Green has been recognised again by this prestigious award. We’re looking forward to flying our flag with pride!”
Green Flag judges particularly noted the hard work done by volunteers at Waterloo Millennium Green commenting, “The work undertaken by the volunteers, facilitated by BOST, enables this lovely park to be enjoyed and is a real testament to the volunteers’ hard work.”
