Bankside Open Spaces Trust’s brilliant, free, all-day street party in the heart of London.
For the last three years, Bankside Open Spaces Trust has invited all who live, work in and visit Bankside to get together and celebrate all that we hold in common.
Initially part of a nationwide initiative, inspired by the late MP Jo Cox, The Great Get Together Bankside has grown into a street party like no other.
This year on 23 June 2019 an estimated 12,000 took to the streets and our Red Cross and Marlborough Sports Gardens for a full programme of fun! From bake offs to bark offs, street food to street orchestras, human towers to tea parties, our Great Get Together Bankside had something for everyone.
Five stages entertained crowds with live music from community groups and a range of bands, headlined by the fantastic Alabama 3, programmed by SuperGlad Music, Corsica Studios and Louie Louie provided djs and soundstages, comedy came from the Country Mile Comedy Club, while Club Glitorus closed the day with wicked cabaret in Omeara. Performance arenas wowed with dance workshops from Swing Patrol, Silverfit and Zoltan Bihari, an amazing human tower by the Castellers of London, sensational samba from Sambatallion and UDM Samba and enthusiastic drumming from Pandemonium Drummers to name but a few highlights.
Not to be outdone, there was plenty for the kids with visiting animals from Surrey Docks Farm, a falconry display, bouncy castles, water zorbing and Wacky Races too.
We’d like to thank everyone who came along on the day, all our performers and stallholders - we hope to get back together with you again next year!
