Future Gardeners celebrate their success at Red Cross Garden

Bankside Open Spaces Trust marked the end of our 14th round of Future Gardeners on Friday 29 July 2022 with an event at Red Cross Garden.

Eight students celebrated graduating our free horticultural course on a lovely sunny afternoon. The course aims to get students work-ready in 12 weeks’ and we are delighted that some of our newest trainees are already in employment, with a couple at Frognal Gardens and one at Camden Garden Centre.

Students past and present, alongside friends of Future Gardeners and Bankside Open Spaces Trust, enjoyed a talk from Ashley Edwards, Head Gardener at Horatio’s Garden and a conversation with two previous students, Kiran Bonardi-Murzello, apprentice at idverde, and Mark Knibbs, gardener at Willerby Landscapes, facilitated by our chair Tim Wood. Certificates were presented by the current Master of the Worshipful Company of Gardeners, John Gilbert.

We wish all our students the very best of luck for their gardening future! If you are interested in finding out more about the course or signing up for the next round please visit: https://www.bost.org.uk/future-gardeners.
