On Saturday 2nd June 2018, 100 years after Octavia Hill, founder of the National Trust and our very own Red Cross Garden, initiated the first meeting of young people's Army Cadet Force,  we will be joining the celebrations to mark this occasion.

Promising to be a splendid and spectacular event, Red Cross Garden and Redcross Way will host the Army Cadets procession, a gathering of hundreds of young people and their families, following the main ceremony commemorating the occasion held at Southwark Cathedral.

Octavia Hill was a prolific social reformer, enacting and catalysing change for the poorest in society at a time of extreme poverty and inequality.

Along with being one for the founders of the National Trust and campaigners for social housing, she founded the Army Cadets holding its first meetings in neighboring Red Cross Hall.

We will proudly be hosting young people and their families as the Cadets celebrate 100yrs of service to communities through volunteering and citizenship programme.
