I became involved with BOST when I saw that our green spaces were coming under threat from the impact of adjacent developments. These green spaces are our front gardens and our back gardens, places where family & friends socialise and make connections. They are a ‘green glue’ for the local community, but they are fragile and can be damaged by the increasing density of the built environment.
One of the things that excites me about BOST is that it gives people the opportunity to take an active interest in the green environment and horticulture, and to consider the many rewarding and fulfilling careers in this sector, particularly through the Future Gardeners programme.
In the future, I’d like BOST to have more time for the creative work of making and improving green spaces through better security of funding.
